What is a Labour & Birth Doula?

A Doula is a woman, trained in childbirth, who is a professional labour assistant for both the labouring woman and her partner during the birth of their baby.

Doulas provide:

  • Physical and emotional support, advocacy and empowerment of women and their partner during preganancy and birth giving continuous support during one of your life's most important beginnings!

  •  Provide encouragement to the primary labour companion, to compliment, rather than replace this important role.

  • In circumstances where there is not another primary labour partner (such as single parent, deployment, partner's choice, etc.) The doula will be present for the mother as her primary support during the birth process.

The World Health Organization(WHO) Recommends Doulas Attend All Births Globally.
